The Position

AllRock currently operates seven office locations, three in Newfoundland (Corner Brook, Mount Pearl, and Gander) and four in Ontario (Toronto, Ottawa, London, and Barrie) and we are looking to hire a new project manager for our Toronto office, where the successful candidate would manage our office and a team of people. This is an autonomous position, and is ideal for emerging professionals who crave freedom in the workplace to make decisions and meaningful change, and to grow in their role alongside a burgeoning company. The successful candidate will be provided with the fiscal resources needed to support their ambition and leadership.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include preparation of proposals, project planning, scheduling, allocation of personnel and resources, budgeting, overall supervision of project personnel, reporting, and regular communication with clients.

  • Responsible for invoicing clients on a monthly basis unless an alternative payment schedule is specifically requested by the client and agreed upon by the group leader and/or department manager.

  • Responsible for retention of existing clients and acquisition of new clients.

  • Responsible for following AllRock’s health and safety policies and procedures and applicable government legislations.

  • Accountable for revenue, costs and profitability of projects under his/her management.

  • As required, the project manager will participate in projects in a technical capacity, including:

  • Performing various types of construction materials testing,

  • Receiving and logging in of samples, calibration and overseeing maintenance of equipment,

  • Independent field reviews of various stages of civil construction, and

  • Report writing and technical interpretation of specifications and drawings.

  • The project manager will provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior AllRock personnel in accordance with his/her knowledge base.

  • Create technical reviews and provide recommendations regarding designs and reports prepared by consulting engineers.

  • Collaborate with other Allrock service lines on multi-service projects

  • Travel, shiftwork and overtime may be required. Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing updates on project status, negotiating contracts, and offering technical support.

  • Establish and oversee quality control procedures to ensure precision and reliability in geotechnical analyses and reports, following industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications

  • P. Eng. Certification is required.

  • Civil or Geotechnical, Technician or Technologist Diploma, or similar. Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree (Minimum requirement is a college diploma and related experience)

  • 5+ years relevant experience in Materials Engineering, Construction, or other related fields.

  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.

  • CCIL – Concrete and Asphalt Certification

Preferred Skills

  • Attention to detail in all undertakings is essential

  • Superior organizational and communications skills are essential

  • Desire to succeed in a dynamic, progressive organization

  • Familiarity with federal and provincial environmental legislation and regulations

  • A high level of integrity and pride in quality work is imperative.

  • Proven technical writing skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
